Celebrating 50 years with a new charity booklet
By Grace Lippolis
New charity booklet celebrating 50 years of local riding school goes on sale to raise funds for equine charity Exeter Equine Care.
Local equestrian Janet Portbury established Hilltop Riding School, which is based at the top of Wrefords Lane in the Pennsylvania area of Exeter, in 1970. Starting out with just a couple of ponies initially, she built the school up over the years and has taught many local people to ride and compete. Many of her clients achieved considerable success at shows and events and they would regularly come home with trophies and awards.
Today, there are around 25 horses and ponies living at Hilltop. The charity, which Janet set up in 2019, provides a home for life for horses and ponies unable to work and in need of care and assistance by reason of age, ailment, or circumstance.
The booklet includes colour photographs, illustrations and a short history of the school, as well as details about the charity and current equestrian activities available to the public.
Every copy bought will help raise much needed funds for the charity.
The booklets cost £5 each and all profits go to Exeter Equine Care Trust (Reg. charity no: 1188994)
